A man in Kazakhstan was sentenced to one year of restricted freedom for illegally selling $120,000 worth of e-cigarette oil. The case occurred after Kazakhstan implemented a comprehensive ban on the sale of e-cigarettes.

According to Informburo on January 14, a man in Astana, Kazakhstan, was sentenced to restricted freedom for selling e-cigarette oil worth 64 million tenge (120,000 US dollars).

According to the case materials, the man set up a factory to produce nicotine oil and sold his products in several stores, with the total amount sold exceeding 64 million tenge (120,000 US dollars).

Due to illegal operations, the man was sentenced to one year of restricted freedom and was required to complete 100 hours of forced labor throughout the sentence.

Previously, the President of Kazakhstan signed a bill banning the sale of e-cigarettes, and the import and sale of e-cigarettes were included in the scope of criminal responsibility. The sale of e-cigarettes may result in a maximum of 50 days in prison; import and distribution may result in a maximum of two years in prison; large-scale or repeated crimes by criminal gangs may result in a maximum of five years in prison.
