Japan Tobacco International (JTI) announced that it will invest 30 million euros in its Trier plant in Germany to build a new production line for processing heated tobacco cartridges, which is expected to be put into operation in 2026.

According to Tagesschau on August 22, Japan Tobacco International (JTI) announced that it will invest 30 million euros in its Trier plant in Germany.

The funds will be used to build a new production line for processing a special type of tobacco that will be used to make so-called heated tobacco cartridges.

According to the company, the cartridges will be initially processed at the Trier plant and then completed at the JTI plant in Poland.

Peter Kilburg, director of JTI Trier, believes that JTI's investment in Trier is a trust in the plant and its employees.

According to the company, the Trier plant is the only JTI plant in the world to build such a production line. The production line is expected to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2026.

Currently, JTI Trier has about 1,800 employees.
