Trump Made A High-profile Commitment: He Will Once Again Rescue The E-cigarette Industry!

Truth Social is a social media platform created by Trump himself. After major social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter banned Trump in 2021, he founded Truth Social. Currently, it has 5 million monthly active users. On March 26 this year, the parent company of Truth Social, Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), went public on the Nasdaq in the United States.
It is known that during his first term, Trump promised to crack down on the sales of flavored e-cigarette products, but later changed his position and said that e-cigarettes could help people quit smoking.
According to foreign media reports, in 2019, Trump's initial proposal was to ban the sale of all sweet and fruit-flavored e-cigarette cartridges and cartridges within 30 days, but allow gas stations and convenience stores to continue selling menthol cartridges and e-cigarettes. The proposal also allowed e-cigarette stores to sell various e-cigarette oils used in open devices, as users of open devices are usually adults.
However, two days later, Trump immediately withdrew the ban, stating that e-cigarettes could help people quit smoking and should not be prohibited. He also retained the flavored e-cigarettes. But it was necessary to ensure that the products were safe and reliable, and he emphasized the need to drive counterfeit products out of the US market and keep children away from e-cigarettes. Since then, Trump has maintained a positive stance towards e-cigarettes.

Currently, for electronic cigarette products to be permanently legal for sale in the US market, they must apply for the PMTA. This is the mechanism through which the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates electronic cigarettes. However, according to the data released by the agency, only 34 electronic cigarette products and devices have passed the PMTA application, most of which are tobacco-flavored products, along with a few mint-flavored ones.
Moreover, all the electronic cigarette products and devices that have been authorized by the FDA come from international tobacco companies under the brands of VUSE, NJOY, and Logic. For other electronic cigarette brands, including Chinese brands, it is extremely difficult to obtain PMTA authorization. For consumers in the US market, legal tobacco-flavored and mint-flavored electronic cigarettes cannot meet their needs. This has led to poor sales of legal electronic cigarettes and the continuous presence of illegal products, which further increases the risk of minors using electronic cigarettes.
Based on Trump's consistent attitude towards electronic cigarettes, if he defeats Harris and is re-elected as the President of the United States, it is likely that small and medium-sized electronic cigarette enterprises that want to enter the US market will receive new opportunities. Of course, some people believe that Trump's support for electronic cigarettes is merely to win votes in the electronic cigarette industry. Whether he can fulfill his promise of relaxing US electronic cigarette laws after being elected remains to be seen.
