During the inspection, the Dortmund Customs in Germany found 7,030 non-compliant disposable e-cigarettes in a wholesaler's garden shed, suspected to be the e-cigarette brand "FUMOT", and the relevant personnel have been initiated into the tax criminal investigation procedure.

According to Presseportal on September 26, officials from the traffic route control department of the Dortmund Customs in Germany inspected a wholesaler in Dortmund on September 24 after receiving relevant tips.

During the inspection, customs officials found a total of 7,030 non-compliant disposable e-cigarettes in the wholesaler's garden shed, which contained a total of 140.4 liters of e-cigarette oil.

Andrea Münch, a spokesperson for the Dortmund Customs, said,

"Since the windows of the garden shed were covered with black film and it was claimed that it was not a commercial operation, we forced entry into the place according to the judge's order. It turned out that the customs officers had a very sensitive sense of smell. All the e-cigarette oil stored there contained more than two milliliters, so it did not meet the regulations."

This case is expected to cause a tax loss of 28,080 euros, and a tax criminal investigation procedure has been initiated against the relevant personnel on the spot.

From July 1, 2022, e-cigarette oils are subject to tobacco tax. From January 1, 2024, this tax rate will increase from 0.16 euro cents to 0.20 euro cents, and will be increased again to 0.26 euro cents on January 1, 2025.

According to Article 14 of the Tobacco Products Act, the capacity of disposable e-cigarette oils shall not exceed two milliliters (up to 800 times), otherwise they are prohibited from sale.
