German customs seized 3,000 ml of untaxed e-cigarette oil, involving 1,000 euros

German customs seized about 3,000 milliliters of untaxed e-cigarette oil during inspections of three e-cigarette stores. The operators have been prosecuted and paid more than 1,000 euros in taxes.
According to Presseportal on November 20, German customs officials recently seized about 3,000 milliliters of untaxed e-cigarette oil during inspections of three e-cigarette accessories stores.
Frank Mauritz, spokesman for the Oldenburg Customs Administration, said that e-cigarette oil has been included in the tobacco tax since July 1, 2022. However, the tax amnesty period ended on February 13, 2023, and old stocks can only be sold tax-free during this period.
Law enforcement officers also found about 700 untaxed cigarettes in one of the stores.
The operators of the relevant stores have been prosecuted on the spot and required to pay more than 1,000 euros in taxes immediately, which have now been paid.
From 2022, an additional €0.20 tobacco tax will be imposed on each milliliter of e-cigarette oil, including nicotine, nicotine injections, flavorings, etc. In addition, disposable e-cigarettes are also subject to this tax system.
