Police received reports that children had purchased unlicensed e-cigarettes, and then raided 9 stores.

Chris Goodwin, cabinet member for public protection at Oldham City Council, said,

"Smoking and its harms and the trade of illegal tobacco have existed for many years, but in recent years we have seen an increasing number of illegal e-cigarettes on the streets. These e-cigarettes not only contain illegal levels of nicotine, but also target young people, which is unacceptable. Not only is it illegal to sell e-cigarettes to people under the age of 18, we will continue to conduct raids and seizures throughout the district. If you can help, please contact us."
