British American Tobacco officially launches synthetic nicotine e-cigarette "Nomad Sync 5000" with a market price of $12

British American Tobacco has launched its synthetic nicotine e-cigarette product "Nomad Sync 5000" for the first time in South Korea. The e-liquid contains 10 ml of nicotine, with a nicotine content of 0.9%, can be inhaled up to 5,000 times, and is available in two colors. The price is $12.
According to N.News on November 25, British American Tobacco (BAT) will launch its synthetic nicotine e-cigarette product "Nomad Sync 5000" in the Korean market for the first time.
BAT's Korean subsidiary revealed that the new product has a capacity of 10 ml of e-liquid, a nicotine content of 0.9%, and can be inhaled up to 5,000 times. There are two flavors, "purple" (퍼플) and "cold" (콜드), and the suggested retail price is around 17,000 won (US$12).
It is reported that BAT chose to launch "Nomad" in South Korea in part because there is a regulatory gap in the country. According to South Korea's current "Tobacco Industry Law", only products made from tobacco leaves are defined as tobacco. Therefore, synthetic nicotine products do not fall into this category and are not subject to relevant tobacco regulations. Synthetic nicotine products are therefore not subject to fees such as tobacco consumption taxes, can be sold cheaper than tobacco or heated tobacco, and are not penalized for selling to teenagers, and do not require additional warning signs or pictures.
An official from the company said,
"Although there are no synthetic nicotine-related regulations in South Korea's Tobacco Business Act, we plan to voluntarily comply with domestic tobacco-related regulations outside of synthetic nicotine industry practices."
"The reason for launching South Korea's first synthetic nicotine e-cigarette 'Nomad' is that South Korea is the only OECD country that applies different laws to synthetic nicotine e-cigarettes and natural nicotine e-cigarettes."
