BAT Korea said it will strengthen its anti-smoking work for minors, strictly implement labeling and age verification systems, and promote smoke-free alternatives.

According to South Korean media N.News on May 29, BAT Korea (BAT Rothmans) said on Wednesday (29th) that in order to commemorate World No Tobacco Day on May 31 each year, the company will step up efforts to ensure that minors do not use nicotine products.

The company's CEO Song Young-jae said: "Minors must not use nicotine, and we believe that the government plays a key role in ensuring this (through regulations). We hope that all commercial advertisements, if not for tobacco products, will not contain any tobacco-related content." The person in charge stressed that the Korean branch will adhere to strict principles to prevent nicotine products from being sold to minors.

The company will clearly mark the "19+" label on product packaging and advertisements, and implement a strict age verification system for its e-commerce channels, while advising retailers to pay more attention to the prohibition of selling cigarettes to minors.

The official added that the company will continue to participate in social activities and promote smoke-free alternatives such as e-cigarettes and nicotine pouches to convert the smoking habits of adult smokers.
