Brazilian survey: E-cigarettes are popular among young people, experts call for strict regulation

Recently, a Brazilian health research institute conducted a survey on e-cigarettes, which showed that young people in Brazil widely use e-cigarettes. The institute called on the government to strengthen supervision and protect young people from harm.
According to Paranashop on June 5, a survey on e-cigarettes conducted by the Brazilian HSR Health Research Institute and the Data Working Group of the "National Anti-Cancer Movement" interviewed 979 respondents.
Among the participants interviewed, 89% have heard of e-cigarettes, 18% have used them before, and 3% are still using them, especially those aged 16 to 24. Data from the Brazilian health department show that the proportion of smokers aged 18 or above in Brazil is 9.3%.
Dr. Catherine Moura, a public health doctor, said,
"The use of e-cigarettes, especially among young people, is very surprising. Due to lack of understanding, many people think that these devices are not dangerous. After all, they are more attractive and more fragrant than traditional tobacco. But this is not the case. Therefore, we urgently need to spread more information and especially stricter supervision to prevent such devices from being sold and used casually, as is happening in this country now."
