Brazilian police crack down on e-cigarette smuggling and seize more than 100,000 e-cigarettes and tobacco flavors

The Brazilian Federal Police and State Police intercepted smuggled e-cigarettes and tobacco flavors worth about $2 million at the Setequedas International Port, involving more than 100,000 e-cigarettes and 100,000 packs of tobacco flavors. The case is currently under further investigation.

 

According to Opresente on August 26, the Brazilian Federal Police, the Border Police Battalion (BPFron) and the Special Police Operations Battalion (Bope) jointly seized a batch of e-cigarettes and tobacco flavors worth millions of dollars.

 

During a routine inspection at the Setequedas International Port, the police found a trailer with a Paraguayan license plate. There were 500 pieces of smuggled goods hidden in the trailer, which was covered with corn goods, but the driver was nowhere to be seen.

 

The seized goods included more than 100,000 e-cigarettes and 100,000 packs of tobacco flavors, with an estimated value of about 11 million reais (about 2 million US dollars).

 

At present, all the seized items have been handed over to the Federal Police Department in Guaira for further investigation.
