Brazil seized about 500 illegal e-cigarettes involving e-cigarette brands ELFBAR, OXBAR, and IGNITE
Brazilian police cracked down on an e-cigarette smuggling case involving e-cigarette brands ELFBAR, OXBAR, and IGNITE, and the suspects may face a five-year prison sentence.
According to Nsctotal on July 11, the Brazilian Federal Police (PF) seized 10,600 reais (US$1,948.57) in cash, about 500 e-cigarettes, 256 flavors, 144 energy drinks, and other foreign goods in an operation in Chapecó.
Among them, the e-cigarette brands ELFBAR, OXBAR, and IGNITE were involved.
This operation, called "PODs X-ONE", aims to combat the smuggling and illegal sales of e-cigarettes. According to the police, four search and seizure warrants were executed on Thursday (11th), two of which were executed at residences and the other two were executed at commercial institutions.

The suspects will be prosecuted for smuggling, with a possible sentence of up to five years.
It is understood that the PF investigation began in March this year, when relevant clues were received on the Brazilian Federal Public Policy Transparency Platform Fala.BR. The police further revealed that the seized products were illegally sold online and in stores in the western district of Chapeco.
The Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) prohibits the import, sale, distribution, storage, transportation and promotion of e-cigarettes.
