The Australian government has announced that it will ban the import of single-use electronic cigarettes from January next year.

Research from the University of Sydney this year found that more than a quarter of Australian teenagers aged 14 to 17 have used e-cigarettes.

 

Australian Health Minister Mark Butler said importers of e-cigarettes and manufacturers of therapeutic devices would have to comply with stricter government regulations on product taste, nicotine content and packaging.
