According to a report by CNA on September 11th,
The Central Narcotics Bureau of Singapore launched its first large-scale operation to crack down on the etomidate criminal syndicate. A total of 8 Singaporean citizens were arrested. The police seized over 400 electronic cigarette cartridges suspected to contain etomidate, as well as more than 20,000 Singapore dollars in cash.
The operation began in the evening of September 10th. Several suspects were arrested in places such as Choa Chu Kang, Hougang and Woon Leong Road. Among them was a 18-year-old woman. Some suspects were subdued by the police when they resisted arrest.
Etomidate has recently been classified as a Class C controlled drug and is commonly known as "Kpods". According to the Drug Abuse Act, importing, selling or distributing such electronic vaping devices can be prosecuted.
The Central Narcotics Bureau emphasized that it will continue to crack down on related crimes and will not tolerate any abuse of etomidate.
