A Belgian city issued new smoking control regulations: cigarettes and e-cigarettes are banned in some public places

The city of Fleurus in Wallonia, Belgium, has decided to ban the use of cigarettes and e-cigarettes within 10 meters of parks, playgrounds, schools, nurseries and nursing homes, but no penalties have been set for violators.

According to Tgrthaber on January 9, Fleurus in Wallonia, the French-speaking region of Belgium, banned the use of tobacco products in some public places for the purpose of "protecting the health of young people."

The city decided to ban the use of cigarettes and e-cigarettes in parks, playgrounds, schools, nurseries and nursing homes, and smoking is prohibited within 10 meters of the entrances and exits of these facilities. Although this ban has been issued, there are currently no penalties for violators.

It is reported that Belgium has completely banned the sale of disposable e-cigarettes since January 1, 2025.
