Zimbabwe plans to strengthen cooperation with Chinese companies to build a multi-billion-dollar e-cigarette production factory, which is expected to provide a large number of jobs in the country.

According to The Herald on June 4, Zimbabwe will build a multi-billion-dollar e-cigarette production factory to become a regional center of the tobacco value chain. The factory will extract nicotine from tobacco stems, leaves and flowers to make smoke-free alternatives. At present, this plan is at a high level of planning.

Zimbabwe is the world's fourth largest tobacco exporter. Once established, the factory will process tobacco from neighboring countries such as Alawi, Mozambique and Zambia.

An investor board meeting was held in China on Friday to determine the specific method of building the factory, which is tentatively located in Karoi in the Hurunwe region.

Christopher Mutsvangwa, former Zimbabwean ambassador to China, said at the Zimbabwe African People's Union West Province Coordinating Committee meeting, "This will be a huge industry to extract nicotine from the by-products of high-quality tobacco leaves. Chinese companies are interested in setting up factories in Zimbabwe because of our production level." This move will create a large number of jobs in the country.
