Whats is vapes?

"Vapes" (also called e-cigarettes, vape pens, pods, or mods) are battery-powered devices that heat a liquid or concentrate until it turns into an aerosol that you inhale. That aerosol is often called "vapor," but it is not just water vapor-it contains fine particles, flavor chemicals, nicotine or THC/CBD, and sometimes metals or other contaminants.
How a vape works
Most vapes have:
A battery
A heating coil/atomizer
A cartridge, pod, or tank that holds the liquid or oil
A mouthpiece
When you puff or press the button, the coil heats the liquid, and you inhale the aerosol.
What vapes can contain
Nicotine – in freebase or salt form; highly addictive
THC/CBD – in cannabis oil carts or disposable cannabis vapes
PG/VG – propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin, the main base liquids
Flavorings and coolants – often food-safe but not approved for inhalation
Other additives – including terpenes, acids, or, in illicit carts, dangerous substances like vitamin E acetate
Common types
Disposables – pre-filled, throw away when empty
Pod systems – small, use replaceable or refillable pods
Vape pens – slim devices, often used for cannabis oil
Mods – larger, customizable, produce bigger clouds
Cart vapes – a battery plus a pre-filled cannabis or nicotine cartridge
What vaping does
If it has nicotine: head rush, dizziness, increased heart rate, and rapid addiction.
If it has THC: a cannabis high, plus possible anxiety, paranoia, or impaired coordination.
It can cause coughing, throat irritation, chest tightness, and lung inflammation.
It is linked to higher risks of asthma, COPD, and likely lung cancer, and illicit THC carts have caused EVALI, a severe and sometimes fatal lung injury.
Long-term effects are still being studied, but vaping is not harmless.
Bottom line
A vape is an electronic device that heats a liquid or oil into an aerosol you inhale. It may be nicotine, cannabis, or just flavoring-but it still exposes your lungs to chemicals and fine particles. If you don't already vape or smoke, the safest choice is not to start.
