Trump wins US election, experts interpret next administration's e-cigarette policy direction

The results of the 2024 US presidential election have been announced, with Trump elected as the new president. Tom Beaudet, CEO of the US compliance company Accor, reviewed the policy effects of both parties in the past and predicted that the FDA will improve its review process in the future, and electronic cigarette products will obtain market access permits faster.
The results of the 2024 US presidential election have been announced, with Donald John Trump elected as the new President of the United States. The United States is the world's largest electronic cigarette market, and its market trends and regulatory policies have global implications. How will the new government regulate electronic cigarettes and what is the direction of the US electronic cigarette market. These issues have attracted the attention of the global industry. As a leading global media and think tank in the field of atomization technology, Two First connects with American compliance experts at the first time to provide the most authoritative interpretation.
Tom Beaudet, CEO of American compliance company Accor, reviewed the attitudes and measures of Trump and the current Democratic administration towards e-cigarette regulatory policies to two top firsts. He emphasized that the current government has only approved applications for 9 new harm reducing products within four years, while the number of applications submitted has reached millions. He predicts that during the next government term, the FDA may gradually establish a clear market access pathway to help companies that submit complete scientific data obtain market access permits faster.

Here is the full text of Tom Beaudet's viewpoint:
A few weeks ago, former President Donald Trump stated that he "saved" flavored e-cigarette products in 2020 and said that if re elected, he would once again protect these flavored products. However, it should be noted that during the Trump presidency, the closed flavor bomb system was banned.
In the past four years, the FDA has only approved 9 new harm reducing products, despite millions of new product applications being submitted. Although the vast majority of these applications did not include the scientific data required by the Center for Tobacco Products (Office of Science) for substantive examination, several companies have submitted high-quality applications and are still awaiting a final decision.
Regardless of the election results on November 5th, we still hold onto hope. Under the leadership of Tony Abud, the President of the Vapor Technology Association (VTA) in the United States, the association has been actively promoting the life-saving potential of nicotine harm reducing products to members of Congress from both parties, as well as the importance of improving the FDA's review process to fix the current incomplete review process. Regardless of who wins tomorrow, we expect an improvement in the PMTA review process to ensure that products submitting high-quality applications have a clear market access path. As more products are approved and a reference product library is established, the path to success will become increasingly clear.
