The Welsh Parliament in the UK passed new regulations: Disposable e-cigarettes will be banned from 2025

The Welsh Parliament in the United Kingdom passed a vote to ban the supply of disposable e-cigarettes in Wales, and the regulation will come into effect on June 1, 2025.

On December 10, the official website of the Welsh Government of the United Kingdom issued a press release stating that the Welsh Parliament (Senedd) passed a vote to introduce the Environmental Protection (Disposable E-cigarettes) (Wales) Regulations 2024, which prohibits the supply of disposable e-cigarettes in Wales.

According to the results of the parliamentary vote, Huw Irranca-Davies, Deputy First Minister of Wales and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs, said that this marked an important step in eliminating the disposable culture and its impact on the environment.

The regulation will come into effect on June 1, 2025. The Welsh Government has worked with the UK government and other local governments to ensure that all regions implement the ban simultaneously. From June 1, 2025, disposable e-cigarettes of any form cannot be sold or given away for free.

The Welsh Government reminds businesses that they should contact suppliers immediately to order replacements, start training employees and inform customers. Businesses are also required to organize safe handling measures for disposable e-cigarettes for customers.
