In May this year, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said that the Act would be fully implemented in June.
Previously, the Ministry of Health was criticized for failing to implement Act 852 due to the removal of nicotine used in e-cigarettes and e-cigarettes from the list of restricted substances in the Poisons Act by former Health Minister Zaliha Mustafa. The regulations prohibiting the sale of e-cigarettes to minors could not be implemented.
