The Thai Bureau of Special Investigation (DSI) and Customs seized nearly 50,000 illegal e-cigarettes at a port, worth more than $300,000. The pictures provided by the Special Investigation Bureau show that the packaging is suspected to involve brand products such as esko bar, spaceman, and salthub.
On December 24, according to the Thai Bureau of Special Investigation (DSI), the authorities seized more than 47,000 e-cigarettes worth more than 10 million baht (about $300,000) at Laem Chabang Port in Sracha District, Chonburi Province.
On December 22, the Customs Department and the Bureau of Special Investigation (DSI) jointly inspected a batch of suspicious containers at Laem Chabang Port. Previously, they received news that e-cigarettes might be hidden in goods shipped from other countries. During the inspection, law enforcement officers found more than 47,495 disposable e-cigarettes with a market value of more than 10 million baht (about $300,000). The batch of e-cigarettes was seized and the case has been transferred to the Laem Chabang Customs Office for legal proceedings.
In 2024, the Laem Chabang Customs Office has seized 25,690 e-cigarettes in 9 cases with a total value of more than 11.9 million baht (about 350,000 US dollars).
Since December 12, 2014, e-cigarettes have been listed as prohibited imports by the Thai government.
