Thai customs seized 128,130 illegal e-cigarettes worth about $590,000 in Morakot, including the e-cigarette brand "INFY". In recent days, Thai customs has handled hundreds of e-cigarette smuggling cases with a total value of more than $2.7 million.
According to Siamrath on August 26, Thai customs intercepted a batch of illegal e-cigarettes worth more than 20 million baht (about $590,000) in Morakot on the 23rd of this month.
Pantong Loikun, spokesman for Thai customs, said in the latest announcement that the government has always attached great importance to combating the smuggling of tobacco products, including e-cigarettes. In recent years, e-cigarettes have become increasingly popular among teenagers and ordinary people. Smugglers often modify their appearance and even carry other drug ingredients, posing a serious threat to public health.
To this end, Teerachai Attawanich, director general of the General Administration of Customs, proposed a series of strict measures to strengthen the prevention and crackdown on smuggling activities.
It is reported that on August 23, the General Administration of Customs conducted a strict inspection of a container from China at a freight station in Morakot Province and found that the declared content did not match the actual goods. After a detailed search, the customs seized a total of 128,130 disposable e-cigarettes worth more than 20 million baht (about 590,000 US dollars), including the e-cigarette brand "INFY".

These goods were seized in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Customs Law for false declaration, evasion of tariffs and violation of import bans.
In addition, Pantone also revealed that throughout August, the customs made every effort to crack down on e-cigarette smuggling, and seized similar cases several times across the country.
Statistics show that from October 1, 2023 to August 25, 2024, the General Department of Customs of Thailand handled a total of 343 e-cigarette smuggling cases, seized more than 1.2 million items involved in the case, with a total value of more than 92 million baht (about 2.7 million US dollars).
