The Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that from October 10, a three-month anti-smoking advertisement called "Less Safe E-cigarettes" will be launched through various channels such as television, social networks, radio, online platforms and outdoor media.

According to Asiatime on October 9, the Ministry of Health and Welfare of South Korea (i.e. the Ministry of Health) and the Health Promotion and Development Institute said that from the 10th of this month, an anti-smoking advertisement called "Less Safe E-cigarettes" will be launched through various media for about three months.

The anti-smoking advertisement aims to accuse society of its tolerant attitude towards e-cigarettes and raise the awareness of e-cigarette users.

The Ministry of Health plans to run anti-smoking advertisements through various platforms such as terrestrial television, social networking services (SNS), radio, online and outdoor media from October 10 to December 31.

Bae Kyung-tak, director of the ministry's health policy bureau, said,

"Korea is a party to the World Health Organization's (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), and the basis of its tobacco control policy is the principle that 'all tobacco is harmful'. Through this ad, we plan to widely publicize the harm of e-cigarettes and will do our utmost to achieve a smoke-free Korea."

Kim Heon-joo, president of the Korea Institute for Health Promotion and Development, said,

"This ad aims to correct the misunderstanding of e-cigarettes caused by the tobacco industry's marketing and focus on the social issues caused by it. We hope that this ad will become an opportunity for e-cigarette smokers to quit smoking."
