Russia plans to completely ban e-cigarettes, Duma may review the bill in autumn

The Russian State Duma plans to consider a cross-party bill during the autumn session aimed at a complete ban on the sale of e-cigarettes. The Ministry of Health has previously warned that e-cigarettes may cause serious health risks.
According to Eadaily on August 30, the Russian State Duma may consider a cross-party bill during the autumn session, which aims to completely ban the sale of e-cigarettes in Russia.
The news was revealed by Yaroslav Nilov (Ярослав Нилов, ЛДПР), one of the drafters of the bill and chairman of the State Duma Social Policy Committee.
Previously, the Russian Ministry of Health has warned that e-cigarettes and e-cigarette oils may cause a new disease. The department pointed out that e-cigarettes can cause a disease called EVALI, whose symptoms are similar to those of the new coronavirus, and are caused by acute lung injury caused by the use of e-cigarettes.
Nilov said,
"This initiative is cross-party, and we very much hope that it can be considered this fall."
He added that under the current circumstances, it is necessary to legislate and ban e-cigarettes as soon as possible before they fully penetrate into people's daily lives.
