Kentucky, USA, officially implemented new e-cigarette regulations on January 1, which restricts retailers to sell only FDA-approved products. Retailers say this move will make them face inventory reduction and operational challenges.

According to Newsbreak on January 2, the new e-cigarette use regulations in Kentucky, USA, officially took effect today. Act No. 11, passed in April, aims to curb the use of e-cigarettes by young people in the state, but currently, retailers across Kentucky can only sell specific e-cigarette products.

Some retailers said that they face great challenges because Act No. 11 only allows the sale of e-cigarette products approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Ali Mazab, owner of Kings Vape and Tobacco, said that due to the implementation of the bill, he had to remove about 80% of his inventory and was forced to choose inventory from a limited list of e-cigarettes.

Mazab plans to find new ways to operate,

"This won't stop us. We'll keep fighting."

A new study from The Freedom Center points out that Kentucky is the seventh-highest state for teen e-cigarette use in the United States.

On April 5, 2024, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear officially signed Bill No. 11, making the state the sixth state to implement the PMTA registration law, which will ban the sale of e-cigarette products that have not obtained FDA marketing authorization. The regulation takes effect on January 1, 2025.
