More than 600 illegal e-cigarette stores were closed down in New York, and products worth millions of dollars were seized

New York City, USA, closed more than 600 illegal e-cigarette shops in the "padlock protection operation" and seized illegal products worth about one million dollars.
According to PIX11 on July 18, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced that more than 600 illegal e-cigarette shops in New York City have been closed during the "padlock protection operation".
"Many of these shops have been closed. We will continue to work on closing these shops."
On Wednesday, police seized a deli in Throggs Neck after finding illegal products behind the shop. The seized products were worth about $1 million and nine people were arrested.
Adams said some of the products were sold to children.
Adams said these illegal products are likely to come from a well-organized, chain-like distributor.
"They are not only supplied in this city, but may be supplied throughout the state."
New York City Police Commissioner Anthony Miranda said the community played a "key role" in closing illegal shops.
"They are often the first to come into contact with and know about illegal shops…when they are operating or opening."
