Indian tax bureau raids Jaipur again, seizes 10,000 illegal e-cigarettes

This week, the Indian Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 10,540 illegal e-cigarettes worth 15.5 million rupees ($185,000) in its second raid in Jaipur, which were allegedly smuggled from Dubai and China.
According to India Times on August 2, the Indian Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 10,540 e-cigarettes worth 15.5 million rupees ($185,000) during a raid on a commercial building in the C-Scheme area of Jaipur on Thursday (1st).
This is the second major seizure by the Revenue Intelligence Department in a week as part of its "Vape Out" operation.
The seizure was carried out after the interrogation of a suspect named Sunil Kumar Sharma. Previously (July 24), DRI seized 8,500 illegal e-cigarettes based on information provided by the suspect.
A senior DRI official said the seizure was a result of their ongoing efforts to curb the illegal trade of e-cigarettes in the city, which are smuggled into Jaipur from countries like Dubai and China.
