How many people vape?

According to the first global estimate of e-cigarette usage released by the World Health Organization (WHO), currently, over 100 million people worldwide are using e-cigarettes.

The specific composition of users is as follows:

Adults: At least 86 million users, mainly concentrated in high-income countries.

Teenagers (13-15 years old): At least 15 million users.

It should be noted that in this "over 100 million" estimate, the adult users (86 million) and the teenage users (15 million) add up to more than 100 million because these two sets of data were estimated independently.

 Growth trend and other estimates
The number of e-cigarette users is growing rapidly. A study published in April 2026 estimated that the number of adult nicotine e-cigarette users worldwide had reached approximately 129 million by 2025. In contrast, this figure was just over 50 million in 2018.

High proportion of teenage use: In countries with data, the proportion of teenagers using e-cigarettes aged 13-15 is on average 9 times that of adults. The average usage rate among teenagers in this age group worldwide is 7.2%.

Adult usage rate: The global e-cigarette usage rate among adults (15 years and above) is approximately 1.9%.
