The General Administration of Customs of China updated the export trade data of e-cigarettes in August 2024. According to the data, the total export value of e-cigarettes in China in August was about US$900 million, a decrease of 10.23% from the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 2.39%; the export volume was about 20,000 tons, a decrease of 10.92% from the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 2.9%.

Data shows that the United States, Britain, Germany, South Korea, and Russia occupy the top five export markets.

 

Specifically, the United States is still the largest export destination. Although it fell by 5.19% month-on-month, it still increased by 14.47% year-on-year, with exports reaching US$288 million, occupying an absolute market share.

 

Followed by the United Kingdom and Germany, the United Kingdom fell by 20.26% month-on-month and 11.32% year-on-year, with exports of US$91.26 million; exports to Germany reached US$56.32 million, down 4.47% month-on-month and 29.81% year-on-year.

 

In addition, South Korea and Russia's exports were US$52.93 million and US$42.26 million, respectively. Among them, although Russia fell by 55.93% month-on-month, its year-on-year growth of 33.96% showed that it is still an important export market.

 

Other countries in the top ten include the Netherlands (US$40.7 million), Malaysia (US$35.84 million), Canada (US$26.89 million), the United Arab Emirates (US$24.62 million) and Poland (US$21.76 million).

 

Malaysia grew by 19.3% month-on-month and 10.53% year-on-year, showing stable and sustained growth; Canada grew by 16.38% month-on-month and 3.46% year-on-year; among them, Poland grew by 13.02% month-on-month and 85.10% year-on-year, making it one of the fastest growing markets in Europe.

Global emerging market demand surges, with Guam increasing by more than 10,000 times month-on-month

Two Firsts noted that emerging markets such as Guam, the Philippines, and North Macedonia are growing rapidly, showing a surge in demand for e-cigarettes in these markets.

 

The U.S. overseas territory of Guam has the highest month-on-month growth rate, with a month-on-month increase of 10296.34%; the Nordic country Iceland's e-cigarette exports increased by 1576.09% month-on-month, showing a significant growth trend; Papua New Guinea, located in Oceania, increased by 81.12% month-on-month and year-on-year. 92019.94%, and the export value increased from US$2,272 in August 2023 to US$2.09 million in August 2024.

 

North Macedonia, Italy and Poland in Europe also showed significant growth. North Macedonia increased by 658.64% year-on-year. Although the total amount is not high in the world rankings, it increased by 4435.43% month-on-month; Italy increased by 326.81% year-on-year, and Poland increased by 85.10% year-on-year.

 

In addition, Syria increased by 795.67% month-on-month, the Philippines and Myanmar in Southeast Asia increased by 403.66% and 509.97% respectively, and Bangladesh in South Asia also showed significant growth potential, with a month-on-month increase of 60.69% and a year-on-year increase of 653.29%.

The export unit price was US$44.16/kg, up 0.78% from the previous month and down 0.5% from the previous year; the average price of "electronic cigarettes and similar personal electronic atomization devices" was US$4.6/unit.
