Cart of weed

"A weed cart" usually refers to "weed cart" or "THC cart", which is an electronic cigarette cartridge containing marijuana (THC).

It is similar in principle to the nicotine e-cigarettes we discussed earlier, but the fillers and effects are completely different.

What exactly is it?
"Cart" is the abbreviation of "Cartridge". A weed cart is a pre-filled glass or plastic tube containing concentrated oil (cannabis oil/concentrate) extracted from marijuana.

Working principle: Screw this cartridge onto a battery base, and the battery heats the vaporizer core inside the cartridge, causing the marijuana oil to evaporate into aerosol for inhalation by the user.

Common specifications: It is usually sold in half-gram (0.5g) or one-gram (1g) units, and the most common interface is the universal 510 threaded interface.

⚡ Core difference from ordinary nicotine e-cigarettes
Although the appearance and usage are similar, their "contents" have an essential difference:

Core ingredients: Ordinary e-cigarettes are filled with nicotine solution; while a weed cart is filled with concentrated marijuana oil, the main active ingredient is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the substance that produces the psychoactive effect (i.e., the "high") in marijuana.

Effect intensity: The effect of a weed cart is much stronger than that of traditional marijuana flowers. When smoking marijuana flowers, the THC content is usually around 15% to 20%; while the distilled oil in a weed cart can have a THC concentration easily reaching 80% to 90%.

Effect experience: Due to its extremely high potency, the "high" feeling brought by a weed cart is usually more direct and intense, but the duration may be shorter than smoking marijuana flowers or consuming marijuana food.

⚠️ The most critical risk: EVALI (E-cigarette or Vaping use-Associated Lung Injury)
This is the most serious health threat of weed cart (especially illegal products).

The EVALI (E-cigarette or Vaping use-Associated Lung Injury) epidemic that broke out in 2019 was mainly related to THC cartridges. The investigation found that many cases (ultimately resulting in dozens of deaths and nearly three thousand hospitalizations) were caused by illegal THC cartridges containing vitamin E acetate (Vitamin E acetate). This substance causes severe and potentially fatal toxic damage to the lungs after heating and inhalation.

In addition to EVALI, THC itself may also cause anxiety, paranoia, psychotic symptoms, and the risk of burns caused by equipment failure.

⚖️ Legal status: Highly complex and varies by location
The legal status of a weed cart depends entirely on its source and location:

In the United States (at the federal level): Marijuana is still illegal at the federal level. Therefore, a weed cart extracted from marijuana is illegal at the federal level, although it can be legally sold in states that have legalized it.

Exception for "hemp-derived": Cartridges derived from industrial hemp (with a legal THC content of less than 0.3%) are legal at the federal level, but this is not the same as the commonly referred to "weed cart".

In China: Marijuana and related products (including weed cart) are strictly illegal and fall under the category of controlled drugs.

Combining your previous questions about airplanes, hotels, and Twitch, weed cart poses a much higher risk in these scenarios than ordinary e-cigarettes. It not only triggers all the bans and fines imposed on e-cigarettes, but also adds on additional serious legal risks related to drugs. Especially for cross-border transportation (including crossing state borders within the United States), carrying a weed cart is a clear federal violation.
