British American Tobacco's VELO Plus series of synthetic nicotine pouches is now available in the US with 7 flavors to choose from
British American Tobacco has launched the VELO Plus series of synthetic nicotine pouches in the United States, offering 7 flavors and 2 nicotine concentrations, with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $5.59 per can of 20 pouches. The company plans to add a "Smooth Tobacco" flavor option in the first quarter of 2025.
According to Tobacco Insider on December 22, British American Tobacco (BAT) announced plans to launch VELO Plus in the United States by the end of 2024 at the Capital Markets Day event on October 16. Subsequently, Modoral Brands Inc., the operating company of Reynolds American Inc., officially launched the VELO Plus series in the United States in December 2024.
BAT said that VELO Plus adopts an improved nicotine pouch design and comes with a hinged disposal cover to facilitate the storage and disposal of nicotine pouches after use.
The manufacturer's suggested retail price of VELO Plus is $5.59 per can of 20 pouches. VELO Plus costs $3.99 per can at regular discounts and $3.35 per can at volume discounts. Unlike VELO Original, VELO Plus uses synthetic nicotine rather than tobacco-derived nicotine.
VELO Plus is available in two nicotine strengths (6mg and 9mg) and seven different flavors: menthol, peppermint, wintergreen, mint, citrus cool, wild berry and dragon fruit. The dragon fruit flavor is sold exclusively in 7-Eleven convenience stores.
BAT plans to add a "Smooth Tobacco" flavor option in the first quarter of 2025. However, VELO Plus has fewer flavors than VELO Original in its initial launch phase, so BAT is expected to expand the flavor range of VELO Plus in the coming months.
