Brazilian police seized 500000 illegal electronic cigarettes related to the brand "IGNITE"

The Brazilian Federal Tax Agency seized 500000 illegal electronic cigarettes at a port, which were planned to be shipped to Paraguay and involved the brand "IGNITE".

 

According to Santa Portal on November 2nd, the Brazilian Federal Tax Agency seized 500000 electronic cigarettes during an operation in the port of Santo Tomas. This batch of electronic cigarettes was seized in two different containers on Thursday (31st). They came from abroad and were planned to be shipped to Paraguay. The seized electronic cigarette products involved the brand "IGNITE".

 

Robinson Barreirinhas, the special secretary for federal taxation, emphasized that the Federal Tax Service has taken a stricter stance against smuggling and fraudulent imports, especially electronic cigarette products that have been banned in Brazil since 2009.

 

At a press conference last Friday (1st), the person in charge announced five measures to strengthen the crackdown on organized crime, one of which includes zero tolerance for smuggling using Brazilian ports. Currently, Regulation No. 2231 of 2024 has been invoked to prevent goods from entering and leaving the country in the form of smuggling.
